Astellas Pharma Europe, the European subsidiary of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma, has announced the appointment of Kay Spiller as vice president of marketing, Europe. In her new role, Kay will manage Astellas' European brand strategy in the urology, transplant, dermatology and anti-infective areas of the business. Prior to her appointment, the marketing function was led by chief operating officer, Ken Jones. The creation of this senior position will allow Ken to spearhead the European operational strategy and deliver on the company's strategic objective. |

Luc Vanden Broeck has been appointed vice president of HR at GSK Biologicals, GSK's vaccine business. He will be based at the company's headquarters in Belgium and will be a member of the Biologicals management team. Luc was previously HR director North & Central Europe, Healthcare Europe for Kimberly Clark, based in Belgium, during which time he held a number of HR leadership positions across a range of Kimberly Clark businesses and spent four years working with business groups in the UK. |
Chris Pepler, senior vice president, Innovex has been appointed managing director of Innovex UK. He also has global responsibility for Innovex Medical Communications (IMC), formerly Medical Action Communications. Chris has been with Innovex for over 12 years. Jon Bolter has been appointed head of operations and Kam Gandhi, who joins Innovex UK from a global role, has been appointed head of business development. |

Full-service advertising and communications agency Norris Lincoln Adcom has appointed Geoff Leavold as creative director, John Hill and Nic Sutton as senior art directors and Philippa Beazley as a senior copy writer. Nicola Hall and Kirsten Mason also join the agency as account directors. All six bring a broad range of experience that contributes to NLA's direct-to-consumer (DTC) service offering and work on over-the-counter and prescription-only brands. |
Paling Walters has made three new appointments. Andy James joins the company as a copywriter, and combines a high science education with a passion for truly creative communication. Much of his previous experience stretches across the Atlantic with Cline Davis & Mann on accounts ranging from oncology, haematology and diabetes. Andy Jones has come on board as senior copywriter. He also comes with PhD credentials and has a 10-year blend of consumer and pharma advertising experience. Andy Smith joins from Grey as account manager, where he made the move into health communications after four years of pharma and medical sales. Andy has experience of delivering domestic and pan-European campaigns and looks forward to exploring digital media opportunities for PW clients. |

Specialist media planner and buyer MSA Market Media has made two new appointments to its rapidly growing team. Katy Parker joins from Wiley's Pharmafile as new business development director and will head up the new business team responsible for the strategic growth of the company's portfolio. Katy has over five years' experience in the pharma industry in various sales and marketing roles and has a BSc. Rod Folland joins MSA as an account manager. His role will include media planning and buying, as well as day-to-day client liaison and office support. Rod worked previously at Wiley Blackwell's on Prescriber as the advertising account manager. |

Tanya has extensive experience of communications in the global and UK healthcare industry from more than 20 years' of working in both the public and private sectors. Tanya joins Bell Pottinger from Porter Novelli where she headed up the healthcare division, following the departure of Shipra Singh who decided to leave to pursue a career in more specialist healthcare services. |

Chris Barker has founded Spirit Consulting (UK) after leaving his role as regional account director with Ashfield In2Focus/Takeda UK. In his new role, Chris will have responsibility for business development, partnerships and leadership; working with Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and Practice-based Commissioning Consortia to design and implement services appropriate to the needs of local populations.
Solaris Health has appointed Ian Morgan as managing director. Ian joins Solaris from Strategic Consultants International where he was senior vice president. He brings international experience across the spectrum of medical communications, and therapeutic expertise in oncology, virology and cardiometabolic disease to the Solaris team. Ian will focus on client services and new business.
Rory Sutherland, executive creative director and vice chairman, OgilvyOne London, and vice chairman, Ogilvy Group UK, has been nominated by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) Council to succeed Moray MacLennan of M&C Saatchi as president of the IPA. Rory is the first creative director and direct marketer to be nominated for the post and will be expected to serve a two-year, annually-elected, tenure from April 22, 2009 when he is formally nominated at a special council meeting, following the AGM if unopposed. Rory is well known for his blogs on Brand Republic and column in The Spectator. He joined the advertising industry in 1988.
Amscreen Healthcare has announced the appointment of divisional managing director, Hanna Sebright, who has 15 years' experience in healthcare both in the public and private sector. In her new role, Hanna will report to Amscreen CEO, Simon Sugar.
