Pankaj Oza has joined independent European speciality company Norgine as senior marketing manager in the global marketing and business development group.

Pankaj OzaPankaj Oza has joined independent European speciality company Norgine as senior marketing manager in the global marketing and business development group. Pankaj joins from Bristol-Myers Squibb where he served as senior manager operations Europe, Middle East and Africa. In his new role at Norgine, he will be responsible for managing the global marketing of a range of products. The firm employs 350 people in its sales and marketing divisions.

Geoff HiggsAltana Pharma has announced the appointment of Geoff Higgs as senior professional liaison manager with the respiratory marketing department. Geoff has more than 20 years' experience, including time spent working for GSK. In his new role at Altana, he is responsible for liaising with key opinion leaders.

Shire Pharmaceuticals Group has appointed Michael Cola as executive vice president of global therapeutic area business units. Michael joins from Safeguard Scientifics, where he was president for its life sciences division. At Shire he will report directly to chief executive, Matt Emmens.

Paradigm Therapeutics has appointed Dr Alastair Riddell as its new chief executive officer. Dr Riddell served formerly, for seven years, as the CEO for Pharmagene and has held senior positions in international marketing, sales and general management at Amersham International and Centocor. He was a practicing physician before entering the pharmaceutical industry 22 years ago.

Cambridge Laboratories has made three new hires: David Wildy is hired as chief financial officer and general manager of Ireland. Dr Philip Nichols joins as medical director, and Dr Andrew Duffield joins the firm as director of product development and regulatory affairs.

STAR Medical has recruited two new staff members in Rachel Weber and Jodie Cattermole. Rachel will lead new initiatives that aim to help customers who seek to bring in sales people from outside the industry. Jodie will manage the East Anglia and Home Counties region and will also be responsible for the company's graduate recruitment programme.

Evy Young has been appointed as practice leader of recruitment company RSA Interims. Evy joined the firm in 2002 and served as a consultant within the sales and marketing practice of the Search &

Selection division. She speaks fluent Dutch, German, French and English. RSA has also appointed Susan MacDonald, as a consultant in the sales and marketing practice. Susan has more than 17 years' experience of the pharma industry, and worked most recently in business development at IVAX Pharmaceuticals UK.

Elisabet AlcoverElisabet Alcover starts as account executive at Lowe Azure, part of Lowe Healthcare Worldwide. Based in the firm's Richmond, Surrey offices, she will work on a variety of UK and Spanish accounts in the cardiovascular and CNS areas. Elisabet joins Lowe Azure from GSW Worldwide-Junction 11. She speaks Spanish, Catalan and English.

hsdcommunications has promoted Annabel Pino to the position of account manager. She joined hsd 18 months ago from PR firm Consolidated Communications, and will continue to work across the consumer healthcare business.

James McNulty, Chris Ashton and Richard GibbsFCB HealthCare has appointed James McNulty and Chris Ashton as marketing director and account director, respectively. They will both report to managing director Richard Gibbs. Each of the three has more than 20 years' experience of major launches and product life cycle development campaigns, from both client and agency perspectives.

Pope Woodhead and Associates has made five new appointments: Danny Kenny, who has broad experience of the European pharmaceutical industry, will head the firm's Risk Management group. Danny served previously at Roche UK, where he lead the campaign for NeoRecormon. Robin Maiden, previously brand marketing manager for Menarini's Nebilet, joins the company as senior consultant. His new role will focus on the simplification of strategic planning and execution, consumer behaviour and organisational leadership. Simon Ingate joins as project manager. He has more than seven years' experience of drug discovery and development management. The company has also recruited two new members to its PR team: Lorna Hamblin and Aviva Kessler are account manager and account executive, respectively. Lorna previously spent three years as a media officer at the Healthcare Commission, and Aviva worked formerly at Millward Brown Precis, in media monitoring.

Specialist healthcare consultancy GalbraithWight has appointed Mark Boyden as vice president - marketing and business development. Mark has extensive experience of strategic planning and operational marketing gained from both pharma and nonpharma business sectors in the UK and the US. His MBA thesis focused on direct marketing. The company has also recruited Annie Langley, who will ìensure the smooth running of head officeî, the firm said. She joins from regional contractor, Westridge Construction, where she served as marketing coodinator and was responsible for all promotional activities.

Adis Communications has hired: Mark O'Connor as global scientific services director. Formerly with Thomson Gardiner-Caldwell (TGC), he has more than 15 years' experience of the NHS and pharma, plus international and US-focused med ed. Richard Bowyer joins as global director of e-healthcare. Previously with Wells Healthcare and TGC, Richard has extensive experience in developing online promotional and educational programmes. Kai von Brock and Nik Saponari both join as international project managers within the eDetailing team. Eugene Pozniak is European director of continuing education. He has 15 years' experience of the pharma industry, medical communications and CME/CPD consultancy. The North Westbased agency is expanding to include a London office, which will be lead by business unit director Tim Perryman, who has been with Adis for over three years. Joseph Mole is editorial team leader in London.

Tony Hill and Keith HubbardDDB Health has hired Tony Hill as studio and production manager. He served previously as studio manager at Big Blue, and has also worked at Ogilvy & Mather Direct and WWAV Rapp Collins. Keith Hubbard joins DDB Health as art director. He has worked at Matthew Poppy Ogilvy with high profile clients.

Opencity has appointed Kirsty Mearns, formerly of OCC, as senior account manager. Kirsty has worked in healthcare communications for five years and has extensive experience gained through meetings management in a variety of therapy areas.

Insight Research Group has promoted Gillian Thorne to the position of account director. Gillian has been with the company since 2001 and has worked on a wide range of international and UK clients.

Eduard Ilena, Sally Blackburn, Nathan Doney and Suzanne MaclarenSaatchi & Saatchi Healthcare in London has made four new appointments: (front to back) Eduard llena joins as art director to strengthen the international experience of the creative department. He has worked in New York and Barcelona for Ogilvy and FCB. Sally Blackburn joins as account manager from Langland and has worked on the client side for Novartis, Organon and sanofi. Nathan Doney is hired as designer/artworker. He has over seven years' experience. Suzanne Maclaren joins as senior artworker. Formerly of Matthew Poppy Ogilvy, she has over nine years' experience.

Dr Amanda Halliday has joined JacobsParrott, part of the Rapiergroup, as business development manager. Dr Halliday, a trained pharmacist, will be responsible for expanding the firm's services from exhibition stands to symposia and one-off events. She has 15 years' experience of the pharma industry and medical communications.

Clive Deverson and Jen SnapeZaicom MMC has appointed Dr Clive Deverson as director of business development and strategy (Europe). Dr Deverson has worked in the industry for 15 years, having served in international medical affairs for the Wellcome Foundation and GlaxoWellcome. Jen Snape also joins the firm and will be responsible for its events and conferencing services. Jen has worked in conferences and events for eight years and joins Zaicom MMC from a charity, Cats Protection.
