SkyePharma has announced the appointment of a new senior management team. Frank Condella comes in as chief executive while Dr Ken Cunningham arrives in the newly-created post of chief operating officer.Frank was president of IVAX European operations prior to its acquisition by Teva. Dr Cunningham was formerly chief executive of UK biotech firm Arakis, recently acquired by Japanese firm Sosei.
Baxter Healthcare has promoted Paul East to the role of senior product manager in the antibody therapy business. In his new role, Paul will be responsible for Baxter Healthcare's current antibody therapy treatments and for the launch of a new product later this year. He has been with Baxter for seven years and has worked primarily within the renal marketing team.
Mark Cater has moved to APCO Worldwide to head the development of its work in healthcare marketing and product communication. Formerly head of Ketchum's global healthcare practice, he will be based in London, reporting to Brad Staples, CEO of APCO's EMEA region.
Following the closure of its acquisition of IVAX, Teva UK has confirmed the management team that will lead the enlarged company. Kim Innes has been appointed as director, Teva Generics. She joined APS Berk in '90, prior to its acquisition by Teva in '96. Marc Hourigan, who has worked for Teva since '03, has been named as director, Teva Hospitals. Steve Passmore has been appointed as director, IVAX Brands, while Karl Belk becomes operations and supply chain director. Andrew Collier has been named as business development director, Richard Daniell as product strategy director, Peter Horsman as finance and IT director, Adele Payne as HR director and Alex Thrower as director of legal affairs, Teva UK and Ireland.
Avenue HKM has named PM Society chairman, Sandy Thomson as its new chief executive officer. Sandy joined Avenue in May 2005 following 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, latterly as head of health communications at Novartis UK. In addition, the agency has appointed Dr Steve Carroll as a board director. Steve was formerly senior partner at Fleishman Hillard and headed up the healthcare practice in the London office. Dr Carroll was also one of the founders of healthcare agency CPR, which was acquired by Fleishman Hillard in 1999.

Former Avenue HKM CEO, Jeff Smith will become the new CEO of Broadstreet, a US-based creative communications consultancy. Before joining Avenue, Jeff worked in product communications at Lilly UK.
Interlace Global has appointed Trish Long as manager of medical writing. She will be based in the US, reporting to Quantum's director of client services Joyce Demian. Trish will be responsible for regulatory writing for Quantum Medical Communications, the regulatory and pharmaco-vigilance services agency.
Life sciences recruitment agency, Talentmark has named Serge Wolman as a search consultant based in Paris and Sebastien Quioc as a research manager, based in London.
Grey Healthcare has hired Tracey Henry as creative director. As well as working on the ethical side of the business, Tracey will team up with managing director Mark Duckham to launch Voodoo@Grey, a consumer `self-care' agency.
Hywel Evans, who joined Innovex UK as managing director in 2000 and has been president of Quintiles Europe since 2002 has, in addition, been appointed as global head of Quintiles Commercialization. In this new position, he will be responsible for Innovex services worldwide. He joined Innovex from Takeda UK and has over 30 years' experience of the pharmaceutical industry.
Two former Chandler Chicco Agency (CCA) UK mainstays, Jennie Talman and Emma Crozier, have launched Just::, a new PR agency delivering health consultancy. Jennie was managing director at CCA for six years while Emma was responsible for new business programming. Prior to this, Jennie spent 10 years in the healthcare practice at Burson-Marstellar and Emma spent five years at Cohn & Wolfe as a board director.
Bob Elton has joined adOration Design as managing director. He helped to create Junction 11 in 1997 and remained its MD for nearly five years. He then moved to assist the executive management team at VB Communications before its recent acquisition by Huntsworth.
Healthcare media specialist, Reynolds-Mackenzie has hired Anna Radnavale as account executive. Anna joins from Resolute, where she worked on global and UK accounts for Roche and Shire Pharmaceuticals.
The Foundry has expanded its team with the appointment of two new designers: Mital Daya joins from London agency The Nest while Dani Molyneux arrives from Corporate Edge. Both will be involved in all aspects of design, from brochures to photography, packaging, corporate branding and web design.
Ashfield Healthcare has made two appointments to its board of directors. Helen Miles and Andy Holgate have been named as commercial director and sales operations director, respectively. In her new role, Helen will have responsibility for Ashfield Ireland, as well as overseeing the recruitment, strategic IT, nursing operations and medical compliance departments within the UK business. Andy was previously business development manager and head of operations at Ashfield. He has 22 years' experience of the pharma industry, having held senior sales management positions with BMS and Roussell.
Hill & Knowlton has promoted its UK head of marketing communications, Alison Eyles-Owen, to vice-president of Europe, Middle East and Africa. She will handle the communications for Procter & Gamble.
