Dr Jörg Reinhardt 

Dr Jörg Reinhardt has been appointed chairman of the board of management of Bayer HealthCare and chairman of the executive committee. Arthur J Higgins, who had been CEO of Bayer HealthCare since July 1, 2004, left the company on April 30 2010. From May 1 until Dr Reinhardt's appointment takes effect on August 15, Dr Marijn Dekkers, member and designated chairman of the Bayer board of management, is acting as interim head.

Mathew Francis has been appointed commercial director for Zaicom Research Plus. He has a twenty-year background in the marketing research industry that has encompassed spells both on the agency and the manufacturer side.

Paul Holmes - PM Society  

The Pharmaceutical Marketing (PM) Society has announced that Paul Holmes (pictured) has rejoined as a committee member and has been appointed business development director. Jonathan Dancer — managing director of red kite consulting group, the PM Society's PriMe partners for its educational training courses — has also become a member of the PM Society committee.

Effie Baoutis has joined the ApotheCom global management team as managing director, ApotheCom Europe. ApotheCom is a member of the Huntsworth Health global family of best-in-class agencies. Effie, previously director of medical education at Medicus International, will work from ApotheCom's Chiswick office location, and will be responsible for all aspects of the agency's European operations.

James Harmon - Maxcess Managed Markets

James Harmon has been named executive vice president, managing director of Maxcess Managed Markets, a speciality provider of strategic market insight, planning, research, and communications services to the pharmaceutical industry.

Euro RSCG Life London has made a number of promotions at its High Holborn offices. From the company's Rx division, Nicky Oates and Andrew Peryer have both been promoted to the role of senior account director. In the creative department, Wendy Nicholls has been promoted to senior copywriter and Peter Chapman has become senior art director.

Kelly Vesty and Lily Max

Lily Max (right) joins Brandcast Media as video film producer and Kelly Vesty (left) as account manager. Lily has worked as a freelance producer with Brandcast for the past three years on healthcare project and Kelly joins from Euro RSCG Life Medicom. She brings  strong digital experience in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

The board of directors of Bristol-Myers Squibb has elected Charles Bancroft chief financial officer, effective April 8, 2010. Charles has been serving as the company's acting CFO since January 1, 2010.

Sanofi-aventis UK communications director Cressida Ward is to move to the firm's global headquarters in Paris next month to take up the role of director of communications, corporate social responsibility (CSR). In her new role, Cressida will have responsibility for the firm's overall CSR activity, which includes access to medicines, donations, charity work and sustainable development.

Robert A. Bradway has been appointed president and chief operating officer (COO) of Amgen, effective May 11. Robert has served as the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) since April 2007. Michael A. Kelly, Amgen's vice president of finance and chief accounting officer, has been serving as acting CFO.

The ABPI has appointed an operations director in Scotland: Sandra Auld joins the team in Edinburgh from the NHS Scottish Centre for Telehealth where she was service development manager. Sandra has also worked as part of research teams at Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities and as health policy manager covering Scotland and Northern Ireland for two different medicines companies.

Dr Clare Gerada has been elected chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners — the first female Chair since Dr Annis Gillie 50 years ago. Dr Gerada, who has been a GP since 1991, will be the 21st RCGP chair and will hold the post for three years, succeeding Professor Steve Field in November 2010. She will take on the title of chair-elect in June 2010 to ensure an effective transition of leadership.

Stephanie Hall, Georgina Lonsdale, Liz Ainslie, Maxine Smith and Roz Abery have launched Uptake Strategies, a consultancy with a focus on launch excellence, marketing planning and competitive strategy to drive the uptake of pharma and medtech brands. The team has a unique blend of hands-on industry experience in senior commercial roles at GSK, Eli Lilly, sanofi-aventis, Boehringer-Ingelheim and Abbott. 

Edelman has appointed Kajsa Wilhelmsson as its director of European health public affairs. Based in the company's Brussels office, Kajsa will bring her extensive political and media experience to bear alongside the global practice team.

Synergy Vision has appointed Dr Sarah Nelson as senior medical writer. Sarah has over three years' experience in the medical communications industry, having previously worked as medical writer at FireKite360 Group.

Chandler Chicco Companies (CCC) has announced the launch of a new European business unit, Ingenda Communications, a healthcare communications consultancy specialising in identity driven communications within the healthcare environment, and has confirmed the appointment of Kelly Teasdale as managing director.

Virgo HEALTH has strengthened its health education offering with the appointment of Katherine Mantell as editorial director and Adam Pittard as senior account manager. Both will be responsible for delivering medical education and PR programmes. Katherine joins Virgo from Acumed, part of the KnowledgePoint360 group, and Adam joins from Solaris Health.

Steven French has been appointed commercial director for Spectrum Regulatory Solutions, where he will be utilising his expertise in strategy, regulatory affairs and business development.

Quintiles has announced the appointment of Phil Krzyzek to the role of business development director, UK, for its commercial business. Most recently Phil was marketing manager — environment, neuroscience for AstraZeneca, where he developed and implemented new customer marketing strategies to support access within the NHS.

Jacky Readings, formerly head of NHS operations for Wyeth, and Kerry Tomaszewski, former NHS operations manager, have joined healthcare business consultancy GalbraithWight, to set up a new business unit called IMPACT (IMPlementation Action and Communications Team), focused on strategic and tactical market access solutions.

Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group has announced Robert Essner, former chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Wyeth, has joined the firm as senior advisor to its global healthcare group.

Pulsar Healthcare has announced the internal promotions of Stephanie Murray to group account director and Serena Payne to account director.

Synexus has appointed Dr Helena Sigal as country manager for Germany and Dr Radoslaw Janiak as country manager for Poland. The appointments follow the promotion of Dr Erika Nemeth to country manager for Hungary.

PriceSpective has appointed Bob Nordyke to lead its new health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) practice.

hanover communications international has hired the head of Weber Shandwick's Brussels public affairs practice, Christian Hierholzer, as managing director of hanover's new Brussels office. Christian has been tasked with developing a quality strategic communications and public affairs business and filling the 'independent agency' gap left by the recent acquisition of some independent consultancies in the Brussels market.

Cher Thornhill has joined Ocean Media's peer-reviewed healthcare journal GM (formerly Geriatric Medicine) as editor.
