 Steve Turley, Lundbeck

Steve Turley has been appointed as managing director for Lundbeck in the UK. Steve has built a wealth of pharmaceutical industry experience, working for large and small companies. He was most recently UK general manager for Actelion and prior to that was business unit director at Roche UK. He has also worked internationally for Roche. Steve's commercial and leadership experience will focus on growing the UK business in psychiatry and neurology.


McCann Healthcare Worldwide has appointed Charlie Buckwell as worldwide head of medical communications to lead the group's expansion. All medical communications units (including Complete Medical Group and Caudex Medical) will report to him. Charlie has extensive medical communications management experience, from both the industry and the agency side. For the last five years, he has led Complete Medical Group. Phill Sutcliffe, formerly CFO of Complete Medical Group and Caudex Medical, becomes CFO Global Medical Communications and EMEA Healthcare.

Steven Gray and David Ribeiro have joined the committee of the Pharmaceutical Marketing Society. Steven, director of Steven Gray Consulting, has over 18 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry. David Ribeiro is business unit director (UK/Ireland) at Pfizer. He previously worked for Encysive Pharmaceuticals as senior European product manager and at Solvay Pharmaceuticals as global product director.
June Dawson has taken the role of senior vice president and managing director at Digitas Health London and will launch and run the new office. She comes from Ogilvy Healthworld and has more than a decade of pharmaceutical interactive marketing experience. Her career has spanned integrated communications, public relations and journalism. Prior to Ogilvy Healthworld she spent three years at Shire Health Group.

Jon Neal, Yasuhiro Fukutomi and Dr Simon McErlane, Takeda UK

Yasuhiro (Hiro) Fukutomi has been appointed as Takeda UK's new MD. He will be supported by new strategic marketing director, Jon Neal, who joins from MSD. Dr Simon McErlane has been appointed as medical director.


Sanofi-aventis is adding to its UK leadership team. From October 1, the existing directorate will be joined by four new appointees. New business development director, Manjit Rahelu, joined the company a year ago. He has 20 years' experience in the biotech and pharma industries. Steve Mather takes the new position of core brands director, having been the company's marketing director. His marketing expertise was gained both in the UK and globally. New commercial director, Blake Dark, was previously a sales director, while business strategy and planning director, Caroline Horwood, comes from her previous role as vice president global marketing and access at sanofi-aventis' cardiovascular franchise.

Daniel Johnson, Ratiopharm Direct

Ratiopharm Direct has made Daniel Johnson sales and marketing co-ordinator. Dan has been with the company since February 2008. Prior to joining Ratiopharm Direct, he worked for PMD Healthcare as an account executive.


Lucid has appointed three new team members. Michelle Duncan joins as an event management account executive, having spent two years at Gardiner Caldwell. Mary Berrington joins as a senior medical writer. She has nine years' experience in science/medical information and writing, and previously worked at PPSI (part of PAREXEL International) in the fields of rheumatology and pain, as well as at Cancer Research UK for five years. The third addition is medical writer, Rosemary Washbrook, who has worked in healthcare communications for over eight years, and brings experience of both editing and medical writing on CVD, oncology and infectious diseases from her time at GCL.

Interlace Global Group has appointed five new staff to work for sister companies, Wells Healthcare and Interlace Global Communications. Alex Monaghan has joined the Interlace Global Group as director client services. He has 20 years' experience in marketing and medical education. Dr Tania Lima joins Interlace Global Group as a medical writer. She holds a Masters degree in immunology and a PhD in microbiology from New York University. Dr Saira Ansari joins Wells Healthcare as a medical writer. She obtained a PhD from Imperial College London and has five years' experience as a research fellow at The Rayne Institute, University College London and St George's Hospital. Rashme Cardoza joins Wells Healthcare as assistant account manager. She has a Masters degree in Biotechnology and Developmental Cell Biology from the University of Sussex and seven years' experience of research and business development in the medical communications arena. Lisa Barton joins Interlace Global as a travel administration assistant and holds a degree in events management from Greenwich University.

MSI Consultancy has appointed Theodora Anastasi as a consultant. She joins from Pfizer, where she was most recently UK brand trainer. She also spent five years as both primary and secondary care representative, prior to which she was with GlaxoSmithKline.

Bryan Field and Jane Shirley, Sudler & Hennessey

Bryan Field and Jane Shirley have joined the team at Sudler & Hennessey London. Bryan joins as account manager, having previously worked at TVF Communications, and will be involved in the Pfizer EBT Ophthalmics projects. Jane recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with degree in biological sciences, and is an account executive on Orencia (BMS), Fragmin (Pfizer), Lyrica (Pfizer) and Nutricia (Danone).


Bayer has announced the appointment of Meelis Reidla as country division head for the consumer care division. Previously, Meelis spent three years as global strategic business unit leader nutritionals for Bayer Consumer Care in Switzerland. He has strategic and operational experience from previous positions in Roche Consumer Health, Novartis Consumer Health and Pharmacia & Upjohn. He graduated as a medical doctor in 1994 from the University of Tartu, Estonia.

Interaction has appointed Lorna Tasker as account manager. Previously, she created bespoke print and digital communications solutions for pharmaceutical companies at CMPMedica.

Julian Haste joins Opinion Health to lead its sales and business development division. He is the former sales director of US research giant GMI.

MJL Advertising has made three new appointments. Dr Chris Incles joins as medical copywriter and has a PhD in molecular biology and oncology gained while working at Cancer Research UK. He previously worked at Sudler & Hennessey, Transart and Torre Lazur McCann. Two new account managers have also joined; Becky Kingdon, who came from Rainmaker and Amie Hales  from Fleishman Hillard.

Big Pink has appointed Nick Robinson as account executive. He has a degree in civil engineering and has spent 18 months working in an NHS access company. Phil Kawol joins as a multimedia designer, specialising in 3D design and animation. He holds a degree in graphic image making. Joe Harlow has been promoted to interactive team leader from senior multimedia designer. Craig McDonald joins the web development team in the role of designer. He holds a degree in physics and a Masters degree in engineering. Louise Harris returns as project manager after a six-month sabbatical in South America. She has over six years of account management experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

PharmiWeb Solutions has taken on five new members of staff. Max Golby and Becki Ahmed join the editorial team, Julie West joins from Servier as digital marketing project manager, Dahlia Ismail becomes financial controller and Pavan Suragana is a web developer.

Seyed Mortazavi is now general manager, UK, Ireland and South Africa, at IMS Health. Previously, he led the sales and business line function in the company's Americas region. For 10 years, prior to moving to the US, he worked in their UK and EMEA sales organisations, latterly as vice president, sales, EMEA. He succeeds Paul Johnson, who has been reassigned within the company.
