Publicis Groupe adds to Indian portfolio

Comms group acquires Beehive Communications

Publicis Groupe, the world's third largest communications group, has bought Mumbai's Beehive Communications.

The group's seventh acquisition in India since mid-2012, the newly acquired agency will operate as Beehive Publicis, and founder and chief executive officer Sanjit Shastri will remain at the helm.

Shastri will be assisted by the existing leadership team. He and his colleagues will report to Nakul Chopra, CEO of South Asia for Publicis Worldwide.

"Beehive brings both scale and strategic value to the Publicis offering in India," said Chopra.

"Coming on the heels of our earlier moves, this is another significant step towards realising our goal of being counted among the top agency networks in India. I look forward to partnering with Sanjit and his team to build a stronger Publicis."

Founded in 2003, Beehive has offices in Delhi and Bangalore, in addition to its Mumbai base. With more than 130 employees, the agency provides integrated solutions, working on reputation management, media, digital, brand activation and research.

Publicis Groupe already has more than 3,200 permanent employees across India, belonging to several global networks: BBH, Digitas, Leo Burnett, MSLGROUP, Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, Publicis Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, Starcom MediaVest Group, and ZenithOptimedia.

The company's most recent acquisitions in India are: Indigo Consulting (April 2012), Resultrix (August 2012), MarketGate (December 2012), iStrat (December 2012), Convonix (March 2013) and Neev (April 2013).

"We are making significant strides toward achieving our goals in India,” said Jean-Yves Naouri, chief operating officer, Publicis Groupe.
