Ranbaxy wins FDA approval for Metformin in US

India-based Ranbaxy Laboratories' 100 per cent-owned Ohm Laboratories has won FDA approval to manufacture and market Metformin tablets in the US.

India-based Ranbaxy Laboratories' 100 per cent-owned Ohm Laboratories has won FDA approval to manufacture and market Metformin tablets in the US.

Ipca Laboratories, which has a strategic alliance with Ranbaxy, will manufacture the formulation at its facilities in India. Ranbaxy will commercialise the product in the US market, Ipca revealed in a press statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Total annual US sales for Metformin, an insulin sensitising agent, was USD 379m, according to Ranbaxy.
