Takeda Italia was in high spirits at the recent Le Fonti Awards, which took place at the London Stock Exchange, following a win in the Excellence of the Year for Digital Innovation – Pharmaceutical Industry category.
It rewarded the pharma firm’s MyHospitalHub project – a web platform and app, that aims to simplify the communications between hospitals and patients suffering from cancer or chronic diseases.
More specifically, hospitals can create a website to provide doctors with information about their post-discharge patients, including the patient’s compliance history and their quality of life.
According to the judges the project was “an example of international excellence in the pharmaceutical sector”.
They added: “The app simplifies the relationship between hospital facilities and patients, guaranteeing security and facility in post-discharge communication through a continuous and effective exchange of information.”
Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, patients can also use the platform to provide an overview of their disease management and can set medication reminders, view upcoming appointments and interact with their doctors.
Davide Bottalico, head of digital, Takeda Italia, said: “MyHospitalHub meets the need to improve and highlight the relationship between the hospital facility and the chronic or cancer patient by allowing the healthcare organisations to manage their processes more simply and effectively and the patient to be more involved and central in disease management.”
The project itself has already been implemented at the haematology and bone marrow transplant unit at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan, and Bottalico added: “We hope that this project can soon be implemented in many other Italian hospitals.”
