Derek Annan, Scientific Solutions Director, Bedrock

Bedrock Healthcare Communications have strengthened its senior management team with the recruitment of Derek Annan as Scientific Solutions Director.

Derek is an experienced medical communications professional with a strong scientific background, including two post-graduate qualifications – an MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology from Kings College London, and a PhD in Biotechnology from Cranfield University.

Derek started his med comms career with FCB Health (then BrandX), before moving his way up through the ranks in Apothecom, Virgo Health, Cogora and most recently Lucid Group (Vivid).

Derek has a wealth of expertise in a wide range of therapy areas including neurological disorders, rare diseases, diabetes, metabolic disorders, immunology, endocrinology, oncology, and medical devices. He has supported a number of medical affairs and commercial teams influencing engagement and product strategies.

Christine Smith, Digital Account Director, Bedrock

Bedrock Healthcare Communications have expanded its client services team with the recruitment of a new role.

Joining as Digital Account Director is Christine Smith who brings over 20 years’ pharmaceutical industry and 15 years’ digital marketing experience in client services. Christine has worked across UK and international campaigns developing digital projects and brings a wealth of experience in this sector.

This appointment underpins Bedrock’s commitment to its values – to be recognised as THE creative medical communications agency and to deliver high-quality, impactful, stunning scientific medical communications.

Andrea Marino, Medical Writer, Bedrock

Bedrock Healthcare Communications has also strengthened its medical writing team with the recruitment of a new medical writer. Andrea is a molecular biologist (PhD from the University of Surrey) with over three years of experience in medical communications.

This experience has provided a strong scientific background across different therapeutic areas, including oncology, nutrition and metabolism, diabetes, obesity, haematology, vaccines, neurology, and rare diseases. His approach is that science communication should be clear, engaging, and accurate at the same time. Andrea possesses excellent attention to detail, scientific integrity, and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and relishes continuous self-learning.

Furthermore, Andrea is an excellent team player with strong customer service skills.
