Dovetail pilots new approach to joint working

Award-winning healthcare collaboration specialists Dovetail will this month pilot a new programme of workshops on improving joint working between industry and clinicians for the benefit of patients. The first meeting will bring together a diverse group of experts from a range of clinical specialities and industry roles, each with a strong track record in collaboration.

The aim is to reach consensus on the key elements needed to deliver projects that make a difference to patients’ lives and clinical outcomes. The workshop will showcase examples of effective collaboration as well as analyse the problems that can arise in a partnership project. Working together, clinicians and industry leaders will develop solutions to common barriers and blocks and consider how good joint working can be further improved. A future workshop in the series will look at collaboration between pharma and patient organisations.

Dovetail founder and director, Claire Munro said, “We know from experience that our collaborative process enables groups to challenge conventional thinking and move beyond the obvious solutions, reaching innovation and value to patients much quicker than any one party working alone. We’re really excited to have the opportunity to work with such an esteemed group of experts to apply this process to defining best practice in joint working itself.”

Fraser Cummings, Consultant Gastroenterologist commented, “There’s a lot of value for clinicians in joint working. It often allows us to deliver projects we wouldn't be able to otherwise. And it’s not just about the outcome, you learn a lot in the process by working alongside people with different skills and perspectives in a collaborative learning environment.”
