Wilmington Healthcare wins first client for new NHS transformation tracker

July 24, 2018 |

Product helps pharma identify opportunities and tailor solutions to a changing NHS

Healthcare intelligence provider Wilmington Healthcare has won its first client for an innovative new service that helps pharma keep abreast of change within local NHS organisations and better understand their strategic priorities.   The Healthcare Transformation Tracker, which is a Key Account Management (KAM) tool, enables pharma to search lengthy NHS documents at the touch of a button to identify opportunities within specific regions and allocate resources appropriately.

The product, which is now being used by a top pharma company, helps industry follow NHS change within three critical categories – disease and therapy areas; infrastructure, such as NHS estates, finance and transport, and the NHS transformation agenda.

Searches can be conducted across NHS organisations, such as trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), within a Sustainability and Transformation Partnership footprint. Documents that can be perused include STP plans, operating plans, commissioning plans and board meeting papers.

For example, by searching on the term ‘diabetes’, a client can find out what individual STPs and their constituent organisations are saying about it; how services are being redesigned for it in different geographical regions and what is happening to enable this change with regards to NHS infrastructure.

To ensure they are targeting the appropriate personnel within local NHS organisations, pharma can also use the tracker to keep abreast of structural changes. For example, it can find out if a specific group of CCGs has formally merged or is acting as a single entity.

The service replaces Wilmington Healthcare’s STP tracker, that was launched in 2016, and reflects the radical change that continues in the NHS as ten areas prepare to become Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).

Gareth Thomas, Managing Director of Wilmington Healthcare, said: “Accessing key influencers within the NHS is becoming increasingly difficult for pharma. When companies do secure meetings, they should have a sound grasp of what is happening within a specific locality and go armed with a tailored solution that meets clearly identified needs.

“The transformation tracker helps pharma operate in this strategic and highly targeted way by enabling it to quickly extract relevant snippets of information from lengthy strategic documents and follow changes within the NHS as they unfold in different ways across different parts of the country.”
