Celebrating World Blood Donor Day

Each 14th June World Blood Donor day is celebrated around the world to spread awareness around the importance of giving blood.

Today is world blood donor day and the Innovative Trials’ Equality & Diversity committee have released a blog on the importance of blood donation including some key facts such as:

  • A recent change of law in 2021 allowing all gay men to give blood in the UK.
  • The importance of black blood donors, particularly when we look at something like Sickle Cell Anemia for better outcomes with a closer match.
