Changing behaviour: putting theory into practice

- PMLiVE
In the November issue of PME, Madeleine Tye (senior account manager at Lucid Group) discusses Lucid’s approach to medical education. Lucid employs the outcomes of research into behavioural science in an innovative, evidence-based framework called Advanced Outcomes® (AO). The framework is designed to drive measureable changes in HCP behaviour and improve outcomes for their patients.

Madeleine explains how the methodology is grounded in evidence-based psychology, which tells us that there are 14 barriers that influence the adoption of a new behaviour. Therefore, medical education that simply focuses on improving knowledge and skills is often not enough to help change clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. Madeleine reveals that it is only after applying the AO methodology that you uncover a deeper understanding of all the factors preventing the adoption of clinical best practice, and that this then facilitates the development of education that directly addresses these factors.

In fact, Lucid’s Advance Outcomes® approach has recently been shortlisted for a PMEA award in the innovation category.

You can learn more about how Madeleine has used Advance Outcomes® to help change HCP behaviour and advance clinical practice and outcomes for patients by reading the full article here. https://goo.gl/jgaWWe
