“Make Twitter #COUGH” was a unique awareness day campaign designed to shine a light on a key symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(COPD), a persistent cough. The campaign used the hashtag tool creatively to
turn Twitter in to the symptom, and quite literally, make Twitter #COUGH
through a spike in hashtag use on World COPD Day.

Anna Gray, Head of UK Healthcare said, “Make Twitter #COUGH
is a wonderful example of how the healthcare industry can deliver creative solutions within a strict regulatory landscape. In a hugely competitive
category we are delighted to have been recognised by PM Society.”
Richard
Pitt, Corporate Affairs Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim said “Make Twitter
#COUGH was an innovative and hugely successful campaign. COPD is an
under recognized problem in the UK, and the level of high quality engagement
from stakeholders; from people affected by COPD, to parliamentarians, to
hospital foundations, was truly heartening to see.”
