WE’s Make Twitter #COUGH campaign awarded with PM Society Bronze

3 May 2016 (London) – WE’s “Make Twitter #COUGH” campaign for World COPD Day has been recognized at this year’s PM Society Digital Awards.

“Make Twitter #COUGH” was a unique awareness day campaign designed to shine a light on a key symptom of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a persistent cough. The campaign used the hashtag tool creatively to turn Twitter in to the symptom, and quite literally, make Twitter #COUGH through a spike in hashtag use on World COPD Day.

Anna Gray, Head of UK Healthcare said, “Make Twitter #COUGH is a wonderful example of how the healthcare industry can deliver creative solutions within a strict regulatory landscape. In a hugely competitive category we are delighted to have been recognised by PM Society.”

Richard Pitt, Corporate Affairs Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim said “Make Twitter #COUGH was an innovative and hugely successful campaign. COPD is an under recognized problem in the UK, and the level of high quality engagement from stakeholders; from people affected by COPD, to parliamentarians, to hospital foundations, was truly heartening to see.”

Time to snap up the opportunities
Is there a place for Snapchat in health communications? TL;DR: When it comes to communications it is always important to make sure what you’re creating and sharing is adding value to the conversation, and not just jumping on a gimmick for the sake of it. A deep understanding of audiences and insight into their behaviour will drive successful use of the next generation of social media engagement.
