Our client services director walks the talk

Last week, our Client Services Director Adam Boucher set off on an adventure. A pilgrimage, to be precise.

With rucksack on his back and some ‘broken-in’ walking boots, he joined his recently retired 70-year-old father Ted, in, arguably, the very rainiest part of Spain.

Adam was at his father’s side for the last leg of a walk which had begun five weeks earlier in the Basque town of St. Jean Pied de Port in South West France, across the Pyrenees Mountains and all the way across Spain, to finally end up in Santiago de Compostela, the capital of northwest Spain’s Galicia region.

Pilgrims have been doing this walk for over 1000 years as a spiritual journey. Ted walked in their footsteps, amassing a total of 34 days, and covering a total distance of 780 kilometres. Although Adam ‘only’ walked for the final 150 kilometres, it was more than enough to get a feel for what the past five weeks must have been like for his father. With aching backs, swollen ankles, and blistered toes, Boucher & son trudged the long road, and completed the Camino de Santiago together.

As part of our ongoing annual fundraising activities for emotive’s 2016 nominated charity, we will be making a donation to The Brain Tumour Charity, which provides incredible support to those living with brain tumours and their families, every step of the way. The Brain Tumour Charity also fund pioneering research into helping understand how and why brain tumours form – and we’re proud to support them on their journey to develop new and better treatments.
