Abstract Highlights from EHA 2022 : A Spotlight on Lymphoma

Spotlight on Lymphoma

Ahead of EHA 2022, Medscape Education Chief Medical Officer, Hansa Bhargava, MD, caught up with Dr Loretta Nastoupil, US, on the most important abstracts to look out for in lymphoma. Here are some of the highlights…

  1. Update on the ECHELON-1 study in frontline Hodgkin lymphoma, where an OS advantage was seen when bleomycin was replaced with brentuximab vedotin in frontline, ABVD, which is potentially practice-changing.
  2. The results of the Ph 3 SHINE study have been eagerly awaited for many years in untreated mantle cell lymphoma, and showed a significant improvement in PFS with ibrutinib + bendamustine + rituximab and rituximab maintenance vs standard chemoimmunotherapy.
  3. Positive Ph 2 efficacy data with the bispecific antibodies, glofitamab for relapsed/refractory (R/R) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and mosunetuzumab for R/R follicular lymphoma, building on the Ph 1 data previously reported.
  4. Other CAR T-cell therapies with novel targets and in other indications are emerging, such as for T-cell lymphoma where there is a high unmet need for new therapies. Some manipulations to manufacturing also result in an auto CAR within 2 days. So, while CAR T-cell therapy is not new, there are new implementations of therapy that have been around for several years.
  5. Important to now learn regarding patient selection, sequencing CD19 directed therapy and how to account for the patient experience for which there will also be more PRO data reported.
