Looking after the mental health of the Porterhouse family

Mental health issues are a normal part of life and are likely to be experienced by most people either directly or indirectly during their lifetime. One of our key values here at Porterhouse Medical Group is ‘Together as a family, we grow and flourish’; therefore, we are delighted that Rose and Rebecca have undertaken a mental health first aid course.

The aim of mental health first aid is to offer confidential help and a sympathetic ear to anyone in need of emotional support until professional help is received or until the crisis appears to have passed.

As Mental Health First Aiders, Rose and Rebecca act as a point of contact and reassurance, listening to any stresses or issues that our team may be experiencing in their home or work lives, and providing information and advice on professional organisations that may be able to help. Our Mental Health First Aiders want to ensure that there is always somebody available for our team to talk to if there’s anything that may be affecting their well-being or if they have any concerns about others who may be struggling.

For our employees who would prefer to speak to somebody outside of the work environment, Porterhouse is also signed up to the Mindful Employer charter (www.mindfulemployer.net). Mindful Employer provides a confidential staff helpline, which is open 24/7 and can offer independent and confidential support to help with life’s challenges.

Our team is important to us and we are aware that talking to someone about any problems and emotional issues is an important step towards mental well-being. We want to look after our Porterhouse family, ensure that they don’t ever feel afraid to reach out for support and help them to grow and flourish.

At Porterhouse, our people make the difference. Our globally-acclaimed agency works hard to develop its talented teams, a feature that has been recognised through our achievement of the Gold accreditation in July 2019 from Investors in People (www.investorsinpeople.com), the international standard for people management.

If you would to work for a vibrant agency that values the well-being, as well as the career progression of its valued staff, please visit https://www.porterhousemedical.com/careers/.
