Aurora celebrates 15 years of improving lives

Strategic healthcare consultancy has been helping organisations across the healthcare lifecycle since 2005

Aurora is celebrating 15 years of helping pharmaceutical companies and healthcare organisations improve the lives of patients.

Launched in 2005 by former colleagues turned co-founders and owners, Claire Eldridge and Neil Crump, the strategic healthcare communications agency has helped over 100 companies across the healthcare lifecycle – from clinical trials recruitment, genuine patient involvement, product launches, corporate counsel and creative communications campaigns, to most recently supporting clients, healthcare professionals and patients adapt to COVID-19. Despite the pandemic, Aurora continues to hire and promote to build its team of 28 communications experts, some of which feature in this birthday video.

Claire Eldridge, CEO, comments: “It has been a privilege to work with our clients to help realise the potential of their interventions, to ensure patient access to innovation and to promote collaboration across the industry. Pharma and healthcare have never been so vital to the world and we are more driven than ever by our purpose to change patient lives.”

The Aurora Story

It was at the PMEA awards fifteen years ago that Aurora officially launched and, coming full circle, the agency is a finalist for two awards at this week’s ceremony. There have been many other awards, including winning the Communiqué Small Independent Consultancy of the Year and Communications Consultancy of the Year in successive years.

Aurora has always strived to be at the forefront of the healthcare communications industry. It has:

  • Turned around NICE decisions
  • Added products to guidelines
  • Successfully launched a number of healthcare “firsts”, including the first pill in multiple sclerosis and the first genetic modifier in cystic fibrosis
  • Led the charge when social media was taking off as the first healthcare communications agency to have a Twitter account and a blog
  • Worked to speed up access to innovative medicines and technologies, including contributing to the UK Government’s Accelerated Access Review
  • Championed greater collaboration across the industry

What’s next?

Neil Crump, Founder and Owner, comments: “Over the next 15 years, healthcare and communications are going to change dramatically, they will be almost unrecognisable. But one thing that will undoubtedly continue to be absolutely fundamental is partnering meaningfully with patients.”

Earlier this month, Neil and Claire, launched Atlas, a specialist consultancy enabling pharmaceutical companies to put patients at the heart of everything they do. The consultancy supports clients to connect with patients and advance products and services through strategy, co-design and organisational change services. The new agency is headed up by Aaron Pond, who was Aurora’s first hire fifteen years ago and worked for the agency for over a decade.

Claire comments: “Aaron returns to the fold as testament to the agency’s skill at discovering new talent and the loyalty engendered by team members, past and present. Of all that we have achieved, I am most proud of creating our brilliant team, with all of us uniting with our clients to really understand patients and never settle for ‘that’ll do’.”

She adds: “As the only independent healthcare agency with our levels of experience, we are positioned to innovate and adapt quickly in these times of change. We will continue to improve lives and prove it, truly transforming the world of patients and industry professionals.”
