Lucid Group Welcomes a New Cohort of Graduates into its Futures Academy

We are excited to welcome this year’s cohort of graduates into our Lucid Futures Academy, which is now into its sixth year after being launched in Oct 2017.

The Futures Academy allows Lucid to tap into a new talent pool of highly motivated and educated individuals who bring fresh thinking to their teams.

Most frequently, the graduates entering our programme have recently completed a scientific postgraduate qualification and are looking for an entry point into the world of healthcare communications; and there’s no better place to do this than at Lucid Group.

Our programme begins with an 8-week intensive in-house training course, followed by placements with various teams to provide the breadth and depth of working knowledge and experience needed to be a successful medical writer by the end of the year.

William Laudrum, graduate medical writer, commented, “With such a well-established graduate programme I felt confident that becoming a graduate medical writer at Lucid Group would be a great career opportunity because it allows me work alongside pharmaceutical companies, at the leading edge of science, while being able to remain creative. Lucid Group stood out because of its mission to bring magic to clients, create exceptional programmes, impact patient outcomes and transform lives. Furthermore, what appealed to me from the job advert was the year-long on-the-job training in medical writing and being able to work on a variety of projects across a diverse range of therapy areas – and learn from some of the most talented people in the industry.”

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we have been busy successfully onboarding our graduates remotely with virtual eClassroom-style sessions scheduled with various parts of the business. After a busy 3 days last week meeting with various leaders from across the Group to gain a better understanding of the business, our clients, our values and culture, they are now being immersed into Team COMET, our medical editing team, on their first rotation.

Armita Abolghasemi, graduate medical writer, added, “Lucid’s vision of transforming patient lives through innovation and collaboration really appealed to me as it allowed me to use my scientific background but also be creative. For me, something that set Lucid aside was the Futures Academy; the graduate scheme is a fantastic way of introducing wannabe medical writers into the world of healthcare communications and allowing us to gain experience in all the different areas. So far, everyone at Lucid has been incredibly welcoming and visibly passionate about what they do. I am very excited to be part of a company with such a great culture and cannot wait to start my journey of transforming lives!”

Clare Reynolds, Director of Business Development and Commercial Integration, noted , “Our graduate programme is a highly effective way of bringing exceptionally talented people into our organisation and enabling them to rapidly assimilate the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to bring real value to the team, the programmes we create and the clients we partner with. What I love about the Futures Academy is seeing people flourish in their development and become strong leaders across our organisation. Our evolution to a multi-capability healthcare organisation now brings additional opportunities for expanded career paths both within medical writing and beyond. After meeting the graduates last week, I am confident that they will all go on to achieve great things here.”
