Wycombe Homeless Connection and Lucid SPIRIT: a partnership with a difference

Earlier this year the Lucid charity working group, Lucid SPIRIT, was founded. The entire Lucid family was immediately on board and all voted to choose Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) as their charity partner. “Lucid SPIRIT was founded to help focus and drive our charity efforts, enabling us all to work collectively across the entire Lucid Group to maximise the impact we can make,” commented Drew Owen, member of the Lucid SPIRIT team and Managing Director of Lucid Partners.

WHC, a local charity in High Wycombe, was chosen because of their relentless dedication to helping people who are homeless in the local community. The large team of dedicated volunteers who run the charity alongside the small team of staff, help by offering advice, resettlement and challenging unfair eviction for those without homes. Each year WHC helps over 500 individuals and has played a lead role in 90 instances of resettlement or eviction avoidance.

Since their conception in 2007, the charity has been able to continue their work by placing human-centricity at the centre of everything they do. Their mission states “We believe that every homeless individual in High Wycombe has worth and should have the chance of a fresh start, no matter what their situation is. That’s why we treat every homeless person we meet with dignity and respect, and our staff and volunteers go the second mile to provide support. Our work is built on the support of the local community”.

Drew Owen further commented “We felt that the work WHC does is having a real, tangible impact on the local community, helping people in need rebuild their lives. Their passion to improve lives closely aligns with Lucid’s own vision of improving patient outcomes, so it seemed a natural fit to want to support WHC in their work this year”

This year Lucid has organised several charitable efforts to raise funds which will go on to support WHC with their mission, from Tough Mudder and a Summer Raffle, to a Great British Bake Off. Each activity has brought the Lucid team together under the common umbrella of WHC and there are plans to expand charitable efforts with further fundraising activities over the course of the year.
