This year at ESC, Medscape Education Global gathered with conference attendees and leading KOLs for an education event at the Gaudi House in Barcelona where they examined the new data and guidelines presented at the conference. It had been three years since the last live ESC in Paris, where Medscape Education Global held an education event at the Eiffel Tower. In that time, Medscape Education Global saw their experience in cardiovascular grow, as well as their membership expand to over 5 million physicians and 11 million HCPs worldwide as new acquisitions joined the Medscape Professional Network.

Drs Keith A. A. Fox, MBChB, FRCP; Ileana Pena, MD; James L. Januzzi, MD, FACC, FESC and Lale Tokgozoglu, MD, FACC, FESC presented a panel discussion covering:

  • The results of the INVICTUS-VKA trial, which examined the use of direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) compared to a vitamin K antagonist in patients who have both rheumatic heart disease and atrial fibrillation
  • The PACIFIC and AXIOMATIC-SSP trials for anti-XIa and lowering the bleeding risk
  • The use of home and wearable devices for the detection of atrial fibrillation. You can get a copy of the latest 2020 ESC Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of atrial fibrillation developed in collaboration with the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) here.
  • New information for the detection and management of atherosclerotic disease and measurement of lipoprotein
  • New information for the management of CV disease in asymptomatic patients

You can view the whole panel discussion below or click here to watch it on YouTube.
