Pegasus shortlisted for four PM Society Digital Media Awards 2016

March 8, 2016 |

Pegasus, the UK’s leading independent health communications consultancy, has had recognition of its work in digital media with shortlistings for four awards at the PM Society Digital Media Awards 2016 for its ‘MS Explorer’ exhibit stand installation for Biogen, and ‘Beatbox Cough’ campaign for Boehringer Ingelheim and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. MS Explorer is shortlisted for the Effectiveness: Digital solution for congresses/symposiums award and the Craft: Best Innovation award, and ‘Beatbox Cough’ is shortlisted for both the Craft: Film award and the Effectiveness: Digital projects within healthcare partnerships award.

As a leader in multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment, Biogen wanted to create a compelling congress exhibit stand experience to help healthcare professionals better understand MS, its impact on people living with the condition, and the mode of action of one of its MS treatments. In what is believed to be a world first, this educational content was projected on and around a real person, live on the exhibit stand, using the latest HD projection-mapping technology, taking the audience on an interactive journey through the patient’s body. Launched at the Association of British Neurologists (ABN) 2015 congress, the visually stunning installation attracted a huge increase in footfall to the Biogen exhibit stand compared with the previous year, and generated meaningful conversations with healthcare professionals about MS.

The ‘Beatbox Cough’ campaign was developed for Boehringer Ingelheim and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation to help raise awareness of a persistent cough as a common symptom of lung cancer and encourage people to visit their GP if they have a cough that lasts for more than three weeks. The campaign targeted unsuspecting commuters on the London Underground with an impromptu flash mob involving World Champion beat-boxers to highlight that sometimes a cough is not just a cough. The flash mob, which took a bold and innovative approach to delivering an important message, was captured on video and shared across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Key media were also targeted to help communicate the central objectives and relevant organisations were also engaged to help maximize the reach of the campaign. The video can be viewed here: ‘Beatbox Cough’: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbQ04p-7RUI.

Jo Spadaccino, Director and Head of Pharma and Life Sciences at Pegasus, commented: “We’re extremely proud that both of these campaigns have been shortlisted for multiple PM Society Digital Media awards. Often our clients have a message to send that is better told visually or via digital channels, rather than via traditional channels. We’re pleased to see that these innovative approaches have delivered such strong outcomes for our clients, and we look forward to the announcements on 17th April.”

2015 was a triumphant year for Pegasus, with a win at the prestigious Communiqué Awards 2015 of the Excellence in Patient/Consumer Health Programmes award, as well as two wins at the OTC Marketing Awards, and
five AMEC awards including gold for Most effective consumer PR campaign. Pegasus also won the BMJ Diabetes Team of the Year award at the BMJ Awards, and the Sponsorship category at the Drum Awards in 2015.
