Star announce PharmaDoctor partnership

PharmaDoctor (owned by Escripts Marketing Ltd), and Star (part of the Uniphar Group), are pleased to announce a strategic partnership between the two companies to drive and support the development of a wide range of patient centric Pharmacy Clinical Services in the UK.

Already the UK’s leading provider of pharmacy-based clinical service support packages, PharmaDoctor has recently broadened and strengthened their Medical, Commercial and Digital team capability to accelerate the expansion of in-pharmacy Clinics, including: Men’s/Women’s Health Clinics, Vaccination Clinics, Sexual Health Clinics and Skincare Clinics.

As a key supplier of outsourced services to the Pharmaceutical Industry, Star already regularly work with Pharma; helping to launch new brands, give market insights and restart sales growth during various stages of a product’s lifecycle. The strategic partnership announced today will enable both PharmaDoctor and Star to leverage each other’s experience and strengths to provide joined up solutions which can benefit pharmacy, pharmaceutical companies and most importantly patients.

“It is well documented that it is a challenging time for UK pharmacy due to the ongoing funding cuts” acknowledged Graham Thoms, Chief Executive of PharmaDoctor. “Increasingly, the most successful pharmacies are diversifying their business from simply being a dispenser of medicine to offering an extensive set of clinical services. These services not only bring pharmacies attractive new revenue streams, they also offer patients and consumers a large choice of convenient and accessible clinical services without the need to wait for a doctor’s appointment”.

Having successfully pioneered and established pharmacy vaccination services such as the flu jab service in collaboration with Pharma (where pharmacists now vaccinate c2.5m people annually), PharmaDoctor hopes to replicate this success across multiple therapeutic areas by partnering with Star. The objective of the new partnership is to create innovative new pharmacy clinical service-based value propositions which Pharma can invest in to generate an attractive ROI.

Commenting on the new PharmaDoctor-Star partnership, Head of Business Development at Star, Ryan Wooller, says: “Having recently completed a complete rebranding of the Star business to better communicate the full range of support services we offer Pharma, the announcement of this new partnership further demonstrates the diversity of our capabilities”.

He continues by saying: “Star recognises the huge opportunity for Pharma to collaborate and invest in Pharmacy in a more meaningful way to produce measurable patient outcomes. We are confident the new joint Star-PharmaDoctor proposition helps Pharma to understand and access this opportunity”.
