Pharmaceutical Market Europe - May 2016

PME May 2016

The time for change is now, as our cover feature on medical affairs puts it, but there’s a transitional theme to much of this month’s PME.

At a country level major changes to some of pharma’s key markets are afoot, and we cast our eye over the expected pricing reforms in Germany and the credibility crisis in India.

Companies themselves also continue to evolve, as seen in this month’s M&A deals with AbbVie striking a $9.8bn oncology deal and Sanofi still trying to persuade Medivation of the merits of its $9.3bn offer. The full role-call of mergers, acquisitions and other transactions will of course be rounded-up in our monthly Deal Watch feature on pmlive.com.

One of the companies preparing to evolve is Boehringer Ingelheim, and on page 47 you can read how its HR lead Andreas Neumann is gearing up for a series of transformational moves at the company.

We also hear this month from EphMRA’s Dr Thomas Hein on how… yes, his area of market research has been changing – there must be something in the air.
