Rachel Rowson crowned emerging leader at Communiqué 2015

MHP Health's Rachel Rowson took home the Publicis Life Brands Resolute Award for Emerging Leader in Healthcare Communications at the 2015 Communiqué Awards.

Rowson took up her present post of head and managing director for MHP Health - the health policy and communications arms of MHP Communications - in June 2013, when the agency's head and deputy head both left to form a new agency.

At that point she had been with the consultancy for four and a half years, following a spell as policy and public affairs manager at Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancerbackup.

Commenting on her Emerging Leader win at the Communiqué Awards in London last week the judges said: “Rachel encapsulated everything that an emerging leader is all about.

“She found herself in a situation that she didn't really have the experience for and a lot of people would be daunted by that, but she absolutely rose to the occasion.

“She managed to turn the business round. She had this fantastic focus in three key areas - around the people, around the business itself and around her external communications. We really feel she's a very worthy winner.”

Rowson said: “After a period of significant change within MHP, being tasked with building a business which is stronger, both commercially and culturally, than ever has been very rewarding.

“The confidence and support MHP has shown me in my own career development and the guidance I continue to receive from a wide range of mentors across the industry makes me want to pay this forward to the next generation of healthcare communicators.”
