Diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace
In 2022, there is a renewed focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace. But for DE&I to be successful, businesses as a whole need to be actively engaged. And it’s important that upper management understand their role – that they need to be comfortable with all aspects of DE&I – in order to help employees engage and understand what DE&I in the workplace really means.
Incorporating DE&I into the workplace makes good business sense, both for recruiting and retaining staff, as today’s workforce is looking for organisations that are transparent in their focus on delivering DE&I and such businesses will significantly benefit from a workforce that represents and can potentially better understand diverse and multicultural audiences.
The focus of DE&I is about treating everyone with equal respect and giving everyone an equal opportunity to achieve in the workplace without engaging with preconceived opinions.
