Datateam expands its med comms presence

Acquires PMLiVE publisher PMGroup

Datateam Media and Communications has purchased PMLiVE publisher PMGroup, broadening a medical communications footprint that includes Newmarket and London-based agency Hayward Medical Communications.

The two companies will continue to trade independently and PMGroup's existing leadership team of commercial director Clare Bates, editorial director Dominic Tyer, digital director Karl Equi and production director Keith Shilson will continue to manage PMGroup on a day-to-day basis.

Datateam group managing director Parvez Kayani said: “I am delighted to add PMGroup to our media and communications business and look forward to working with management at PMGroup and Hayward to take our work in this area to a new, improved level.”

In addition to PMLiVE the PMGroup's print portfolio includes PME, Communiqué and The Directory of Advertising, Branding, Creative and Digital Agencies in Healthcare.

The company's awards and events business boasts the Communiqué Awards and the Pharmaceutical Market Excellence Awards (PMEA), recognising best practice in the pharma and healthcare sectors.

PMGroup also runs the Quality in Care Programme, recognising, rewarding and sharing good practice and collaboration between the NHS, patient groups and the industry in therapy areas such as diabetes and oncology.

PMGroup chairman Mark Savage said: “After building this business for the last 25 years or so, I am pleased to see PMGroup become part of the Datateam group and I look forward to helping to integrate it into the group and seeing it flourish.”

Both Mark Savage and his wife Trish Savage, who served as PMGroup's marketing director, will continue to work with the company in a consultancy capacity during the transitional period.
